Aristocrat

432 San Andres cor. Roxas Blvd. Malate, Manila

Date of Visit: Apr. 23, 2008

Straight from watching a Dora the Explorer show at the Aliw Theatre, we headed to Aristocrat for dinner. While waiting for our orders of potato salad, pork barbecue and chicken barbecue to arrive, our toddler couldn't help but taste (with her pointing finger) the signature Aristocrat barbecue sauce my husband emptied from a packet. She loved it!

Their barbecues are still unmatched in terms of flavor and taste. But it's a different story altogether for their Brazo de Mercedes (Php250 half-roll) which we ordered for take-out. It was a surprising letdown. The meringue was too sweet. While the yellow custard filling was way too bland for my taste. Every bite of it was like eating a piece of paper. Walang lasa. For its price, it wasn't worth it at all.

When you want a piece of their cake, try their chocolate cake instead. This one is good!
